Kyle McFarren is a Senior Research Specialist at the Great Cities Institute at the University of Illinois Chicago. He holds a Master of Science in Civic Analytics from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Elmhurst University. With a background in marketing analytics and storytelling with data, Kyle previously worked with nationwide retailers analyzing campaign effectiveness and sales lift. Through this work, he developed a deeper interest in the inequalities that become visible when examining cities and neighborhoods through a granular lens. His research interests include government transparency, open data, machine learning, housing and infrastructure development, as well as public policy and applied research related to these areas.
