Introduction
GCI’s Research Initiatives and Projects highlight ongoing and recent efforts across all of the Institute’s research clusters, including Employment and Economic Development, Local and Regional Governance, Dynamics of Global Mobility, Energy and the Environment, and Community Wellbeing. Research projects encompass collaborative undertakings with community organizations, government agencies, and external partners, producing studies, analyses, and creative approaches that deepen understanding of urban challenges and opportunities. Research initiatives extend this work by fostering dialogue and exchange, often through convenings, forums, and events that bring stakeholders together to generate and share knowledge. Together, these initiatives and projects reflect GCI’s mission to link academic resources with practitioners and communities, advance new ideas, and shape equitable and sustainable futures for Chicago and beyond.
