David Segovia is a Visiting Research Specialist with the Great Cities Institute (GCI) at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In this role, he engages in data analysis, research design, statistical analysis, and program evaluation. His projects include the Latino Research Initiative, which aims to provide relevant data to policymakers and build a pipeline of Latinos capable of conducting data-driven research.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (2019) from Wabash College and a Master of Science in Civic Analytics from the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Previously, David worked as a Research Data Analyst at Catalyst California in Los Angeles, CA. There, he conducted innovative research revealing racial inequities and provided actionable data for campaign development, policy formation, and initiative building. Notably, he contributed to the RaceCounts.org initiative, which offers comprehensive racial disparity data across over 40 indicators in seven issue areas at the state, county, and city levels in California.
David is passionate about using data for evidence-based policy making.
