Illinois Welcoming Center Interactive Data Maps

Overview

The Illinois Welcoming Center Data Maps are a collection of interactive maps produced for Rincon Family Services and the Illinois Immigrant Task Force (IITF). The maps include U.S Census data on immigrants in to provide data that can inform policy, program planning, and impact assessment.

The interactive maps include data on the foreign-born population of Illinois in four sections:

The data on population, poverty, and language proficiency, and the Illinois Welcoming Center Services Areas are available at five geographic levels:

    • The State of Illinois
    • Cook and Collar Counties
    • Cook County
    • Census Places (Municipalities, Towns, and Villages)
    • The Illinois State Senate and House of Representative Legislative Districts

The data are particularly informative for state agencies, community organizations, elected officials, policy researchers, advocates, Illinois Welcoming Centers, and other service providers for immigrants.

For all maps, you can click on the plus (+) or minus (-) signs on the top left corner to zoom in and out of the map. You can also click on the tiles in the top left-hand corner to display the shape file layers of each map. For all tables, you can export the data in CSV, Excel, and PDF formats. You can also click on the up and down arrow keys to sort the data in ascending and descending order by each variable or use the search bar to look for data on a specific geography.
