Do you know the labor conditions under which your chocolate is made?
Join us for a documentary screening followed by a discussion facilitated by Martin Macias, about the Grenada Chocolate Company co-operative, which challenges the corporate chocolate-making industry in the 21st century with a socially just, sustainable and revolutionary business model. Nothing Like Chocolate exposes the practices and politics of chocolate production—while focusing on how solar power, appropriate technology, and activism merge to create a business whose values are fairness, community, sustainability, and high quality.

Martin Macias is a senior in Urban Planning at UIC. Between 2010 to 2013, he coordinated student-led labor justice projects at Chicago Fair Trade. On campus, he is active with United Students Against Sweatshops, organizing campaigns in solidarity with garment workers in the global south.
