Kyle McFarren is a graduate research assistant at Great Cities Institute and a second-year student in the Master of Science in Civic Analytics program at University of Illinois Chicago. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Elmhurst University, with a background in marketing analytics and storytelling with data. After several years of working with nationwide retailers on campaign effectiveness and sales lift, Kyle developed an interest in the inequalities revealed when examining cities and neighborhoods through a granular lens. His research interests include government transparency, open data, machine learning, housing and infrastructure development, as well as public policies and applied research in these areas.
