The Great Cities Institute is inviting proposals for its nineteenth annual Faculty Scholar competition, open to all full-time tenured, tenure-track, and clinical faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor and above. The deadline for submission is February 21, 2014.
Teresa Córdova, director of GCI is quoted in a Diverse: Issues in Higher Education story about the development of the Inter-University Program for Latino Research, which now housed at UIC and directed by Maria de los Angeles Torres.
A New York Times editorial cites a study led by Nik Theodore, professor of urban planning and policy and GCI Fellow, that found that some Latinos are reluctant to report crimes to the police for fear of exposing their undocumented status.
