Curriculum Vitae
Lucas McGranahan, PhD, is a Senior Research Specialist at the Great Cities Institute at the University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as a fellow of the Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing at Rutgers University. His research focuses on (1) cooperatives and employee-owned businesses and (2) the history of modern philosophy and psychology. His publications include “Meaningful Labour, Employee Ownership, and Workplace Democracy” in the Journal of Human Development and Capabilities (2020, 21:4) and Darwinism and Pragmatism: William James on Evolution and Self-Transformation (Routledge, 2017). He also has many years of experience as a writer and editor in the private and nonprofit sectors. He holds a BA in philosophy and English from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a PhD in philosophy from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
