In the city of Chicago, 47 percent of black males between the ages of 20 and 24 are out of work and out of school. This is just one of the many disturbing numbers that can be found in the Great Cities Institute report released today.

This last week, members of GCI staff traveled to Ecuador and to Arizona to share the work of the Great Cities Institute. Besides spreading the great work happening at the University of Illinois at Chicago, we learned a great deal that adds to our work here.

The Great Cities Institute (GCI) is pleased to announce that it has embarked on a project with the Pilsen Planning Committee (PPC) to create a new Quality-of-Life plan.
Participatory Budgeting Chicago (PB Chicago), one of the Great Cities Institute’s main programmatic priorities, will be tripling in size this coming year.
