Thank you again, for your attendance at and/or support of our series of events commemorating the February 29, 1968 release of the report of the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders, known as the Kerner Report.
Former U.S. Senator Fred Harris, sole remaining member of the Kerner Commission will give a keynote address followed by a panel discussion among Harris and esteemed panelists: Timuel Black, Eugene “Gus” Newport, Gail Christopher, José López, Willie “JR” Fleming and Anthony Lowery.
The Great Cities Institute (GCI) is happy to announce that its Spring Semester theme of the Real Time Chicago lecture series will focus on the environmental activism over the span of Chicago’s 185-year history.
We are very excited to announce panelists for the March 1 event along with a week of activities to commemorate the February 29, 1968 release of the Kerner Report.
Please join us on March 1, 2018 to commemorate the release of the 1968 Kerner Commission Report with the last remaining original member of the Commission, Dr. Fred Harris.
We were very proud to collaborate with the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy (IRRPP) to produce a report for Metropolitan Family Services on Chicago’s Latino neighborhoods.
We hope that all of you are well, though we all have many friends who are suffering through the devastation of hurricanes, earthquakes and fires. We do what we can to support them. Meanwhile, we continue to plug along at Great Cities.
